Webroot Named First Recipient of Anti-Spyware Checkmark Certification in New Testing Category15 February 2006
Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software and other security technologies for the enterprise and consumers, today announced that its award-winning anti-spyware solutions, Spy Sweeper(TM) and Spy Sweeper Enterprise, are the first products to receive Checkmark Anti-Spyware Certification in the newly established 'Anti-Spyware Installed' category from West Coast Labs, a leading independent testing organization for information security products.
Checkmark (http://www.check-mark.com) is a system which tests and certifies information security products such as anti-virus solutions, anti-spyware solutions firewalls, vulnerability assessment, and VPN to real-world standards. The newly established 'Anti-Spyware Installed' certification category requires anti-spyware solutions to not only detect malicious types of spyware, but also to fully protect users by blocking and removing installed and new versions of spies. West Coast Labs' also maintains an 'Anti-Spyware Desktop' and 'Anti-Spyware Gateway' testing categories which only require solutions to detect and block malicious spyware.
