The Transportation Security Administration Names John P. Sammon as the Assistant Administrator for Key Agency Post

12 July 2006

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the appointment of John P. Sammon as assistant administrator for the recently created office of Transportation Sector Network Management (TSNM).

"It is a real coup for TSA to get John to join us from the private sector," said Kip Hawley, assistant secretary of TSA. "His leadership will strengthen our capability to actively engage with our public and private sector partners in improving security across the transportation network."

With extensive business development, operations and change management experience Sammon's background is an ideal fit for transportation network management. Sammon brings more than 25 years of experience in rail, ports and highway networks. Sammon joins TSA most recently from e-Carload, a software venture company based in Florida. Previously he held senior vice president positions in the railroad industry with both Conrail and CSX.

"I am very pleased to join the excellent leadership team that Kip Hawley and Robert Jamison have assembled at TSA," said John Sammon. "TSA is focused on a critical mission and I am honored to be a part of TSA's risk-based approach to improving transportation security. I look forward to working with our partners in the transportation community."

Sammon has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Bucknell University and a Master of Science in Economics from Texas A&M University.
