Telesis Community Credit Union Deploys Fingerprint Recognition from Omni Identity™

8 April 2005

Omni Identity, Inc. and Telesis Community Credit Union announced today that they have deployed fingerprint recognition systems to enhance employee productivity and network security on all desktops throughout the $480 Million asset credit union. The installation provided an added layer of security for network, application, and website logons by leveraging tight integration with Microsoft® Active Directory. The anticipated result is a decrease in authentication administration costs by taking PINs and passwords out of the hands of end-users.

“Fingerprint recognition vastly improves network authentication while reducing the expense and productivity problems associated with lost or forgotten passwords because people don’t have to remember them any longer,” said Phillip Fowler, Vice President of Information Technology for Telesis. “Unlocking and resetting passwords have been virtually eliminated, so our time has been re-directed to more productive efforts” added Frank Richter, Network Administrator for Telesis.

Omni’s knowledge and experience with a wide range of available authentication technologies was critical in helping Telesis use biometrics to complement strategic objectives. “As security becomes more of a concern to financial institutions and consumers alike, progressive authentication methods, like fingerprint recognition, will soon appear at the retail banking level. Telesis is helping lead the way within the credit union community,” said Eric Stotz, Founder of Omni Identity. “With our solutions, users can now log-on and be authenticated to any network, application, website or even at the teller line or POS with a simple and secure touch of a finger.”

“The deployment with Telesis caps a thriving 12-month period for Omni Identity marked by engagements with industry leaders around the country,” said Stotz. “It is a signal that biometrics are accepted as a core authentication solution for enterprises of all shapes and sizes.”
