TechTarget Names Continental Airlines' Andre Gold One of 'Security 7' for Implementing McAfee NAC6 November 2006
McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE) today announced that Andre Gold, director of information security for Continental Airlines, has been named one of TechTarget's annual "Security 7" award winners. The prestigious Security 7 awards aim to recognize the efforts, achievements and contributions of practitioners in the financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, transportation, government, education, and healthcare industries. Gold was honored on October 18th at the Information Security Decisions Conference in Chicago, along with winners from Cigna, DuPont, USAID, Barclays Capital and Bell Canada.

Gold was nominated by McAfee(R) for his outstanding performance during Continental's recent implementation of a McAfee-powered network access control (NAC) system. As director of information security, Gold is in charge of global security initiatives, IT governance and compliance for Continental's IT environment, which spans 277 locations, including its worldwide headquarters in Houston. The network encompasses equipment for more than 40,000 employees, including 6,000 at the company's headquarters, and includes data centers in Texas and North Carolina, as well as three call centers.
Gold also represents Continental on the Data Link Security Subcommittee, an industry board that includes representatives from other airlines, the Air Force, and manufacturers like Boeing, Honeywell, Airbus and Rockwell. The group is drafting security protocols that will enable not only Wi-Fi connectivity, but also the way future aircraft connect to respective carrier networks, offload messages and upload data like gate information.
