Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2006 Ships With Linksys Routers

15 December 2005

Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) and Linksys, a
division of Cisco Systems, Inc., today announced that Norton Internet
Security 2006 will ship with all Linksys wired and wireless routers to
further protect networked customers worldwide from online hackers, viruses,
and other Internet risks. Norton Internet Security 2006 provides users with
easy-to-use, multi-layered protection from today's sophisticated online
threats.

Under terms of the agreement, Norton Internet Security 2006 will be bundled
with all Linksys wired and wireless routers sold around the world.
Customers will receive a 60-day complimentary subscription to Symantec's
protection updates. Once the subscription expires, users have the option
to purchase a 12-month renewal.

"Symantec is pleased to extend its relationship with Linksys to deliver
comprehensive Internet protection to Linksys customers," said Matthew
Moynahan, vice president, consumer products and solutions, for Symantec.
"As we continue to work together to offer enhanced integration between our
world-class security suite and the acclaimed family of Linksys routers,
home users and businesses have a powerful solution for keeping their
computers safe from today's most menacing Internet threats."

"Linksys customers want products that make networking easy and affordable,
but without compromising security," said Malachy Moynihan, Linksys vice
president of engineering and product marketing. "By shipping Symantec's
Norton Internet Security 2006 with our full line of wired and wireless
routers, Linksys is demonstrating its commitment to providing customers
with high security functionality from both hardware and software that home
and small business users require."

Norton Internet Security 2006 is a comprehensive, easy-to-use suite of
integrated security tools that protect users from a wide range of online
threats, including viruses, hackers, and privacy risks. It includes the
latest versions of Norton AntiVirus, which extends Symantec's antivirus
removal technology to new threats such as spyware and adware; Norton
Personal Firewall, which keeps personal data in and hackers out; Norton
Privacy Control, which prevents personal information from being sent out
without the user's knowledge; Norton Parental Control, which helps
safeguard children from inappropriate Web content; and Norton AntiSpam,
which filters out unwanted e-mail, including phishing messages.

This combination of both the Linksys router and Symantec's Norton Internet
Security maximizes the security of the entire network against
vulnerabilities, providing a more robust solution than any one product
alone. The relationship displays the commitment each company has to making
the home network safe while each family member is surfing the Web.

As the heart of a home or small business network, Linksys routers connect
wireless or wired Ethernet devices to the network to communicate and
connect several computers securely to the Internet using a single broadband
connection. Several Linksys business routers also include built-in VPN
functionality.
