Sensory Networks Unveils New Line of Multi-Gigabit Content Security Acceleration Cards for Unified Threat Management Security Appliances

22 November 2005

Sensory Networks, the leader in acceleration
technology for network security applications, today announced the first two
products in its family of next-generation C-series security acceleration
cards built on Sensory Networks' unique NodalCore® security processor
technology. Capable of up to 2 Gbps throughput per PCI card, the C-2000
Ultra is the first in a range of high-performance content security
accelerator cards. Rated up to 500 Mbps, the C-2000 MX is a low-cost
acceleration card targeted at SMB and mid-range appliances. The company
plans to introduce additional C-series cards with throughputs up to 10 Gbps
through 2006.

The C-2000 product family supports massive databases of up to 10 million
signatures, making it suitable for accelerating multiple applications at
once. Using Sensory Networks' patent-pending CorePAKT™ Massive Memory
Architecture (MMA) technology, full commercial Antivirus, Antispam,
Antispyware, Intrusion Detection/Prevention and Content Filtering databases
can exist simultaneously at wire speed.
An industry first, CorePAKT enables the C-2000 family to power Unified
Threat Management security appliances to run at true multigigabit line
rates.

According to leading IT market research and advisory firm IDC, the UTM
market reached $1.8 billion in 2004 and is projected to reach $3.4 billion
in 2008, overtaking the Firewall/VPN sector. As a result, security
appliance vendors are looking for ways to gain a competitive edge and
increase market share by incorporating a suite of applications, which has
in the past created challenges for these products to achieve high
performance.

"Increasingly, network security products are struggling to keep up with
faster network throughputs and the explosive growth in the number and
complexity of network threats," said Matt Barrie, chief executive officer
of Sensory Networks. "By using Sensory Networks' C-2000 security
accelerators, our customers can build robust, adaptive security products
using an off the shelf solution that can scan traffic all the way up to
layer 7 at wire-speed without sacrificing accuracy."

Network security platform vendor Astaro based its powerful unified threat
management product on the C-2000 product family, enabling the Astaro
Security Gateway 425 to achieve wire speed virus scanning performance.
Astaro's line of unified threat management appliances integrate nine forms
of security to protect computer networks from a variety of threats
including viruses, hackers, spam, spyware, phishing and unauthorized
content.

"By building the Astaro Security Gateway on the C-2000 platform, our
customers experience wire-speed throughput and the complete virus
protection they need at a price unmatched in the industry today," said Jan
Hichert, Chief Executive Officer of Astaro. "Sensory's ability to meet our
stringent requirements around speed, memory and cost gave us the building
blocks to deliver a ground-breaking product to market."

Sensory's C-2000 product line is available now and pricing starts at $499
for the C-2000 MX card in 10k quantities.
