Sensory Networks' NodalCore Technology Selected for NEXCOM's Next-Generation UTM Security Platform18 July 2006
Sensory Networks, the leader in acceleration technology for network security applications, today announced that their patent-pending NodalCore® technology has been selected by NEXCOM International to power their new UTM security appliance range. In conjunction with integrating Sensory's security acceleration engine, NEXCOM's UTM platforms will utilize Intel Core processing and Xilinx co-processing technology, all three functional elements forming an integrated UTM design package, tailored to help reduce cost and improve time to market. NEXCOM's UTM appliance product line will address the low-end business segments with a highly price competitive UTM offering rated from 200 to 1500 Mbps, as well as an offering targeting the mid-size enterprise market with a platform rated from 500 Mbps to 3 Gbps. Sensory Networks will also provide their extensive library of pre-accelerated security applications through their Security Application Ecosystem, to allow NEXCOM to improve the price vs. performance ratio and differentiate their UTM product line in the market place with a broad application base. "Our customers are demanding more and more functionality built in to their appliances in order to minimize time-to-market," said Peter Yang, SVP of Sales for NEXCOM International. "Now with next-generation technology from industry leaders like Intel, Xilinx and Sensory Networks, OEM vendors have the value-added flexibility to select a high-performance, competitively priced platform and bundle it with multiple pre-accelerated security applications." Highlighted Links Sensory Networks "Intel® processors are widely used for the development of high performance security appliances and applications offering the flexibility needed for UTM platforms," said Dave Richkas, market development manager, Communications Infrastructure Group, Intel. "Intel® architecture, in combination with Sensory Networks' content scanning acceleration technology, provides an ideal footprint for next generation security products." "The latest Virtex-4 FPGAs from Xilinx have unmatched speed, flexibility and price/performance ratio in the reconfigurable processor market," said Bryce Mackin, Senior Manager, Vertical Markets for Xilinx. "Now our partnership with Sensory Networks enables appliance vendors to deliver superior products in shorter time-to-market." Sensory Networks' Security Application Ecosystem is the largest in the industry, with best-of-breed commercial and open-source Antivirus, Antispam, Antispyware, IDS/IPS and QoS vendors providing their products on Sensory's NodalCore platform. "The most successful vendors are those who play to their strengths," said Sab Gosal, VP of Marketing for Sensory Networks. "Leveraging the Intel, Xilinx and Sensory technology footprint, NEXCOM can now provide a market leading solution with a competitively price-positioned appliance offering high throughput, performance acceleration, and all the applications needed to rapidly expand market share."
