SecureMac Demos MacScan 2.0 at MacWorld San Francisco

8 January 2006

SecureMac, a software company creating cutting edge security solutions for Apple Macintosh computers, is pleased to announce it will be attending MacWorld SF from January 9-13, where it will be presenting the company's latest security product, MacScan 2.0. This second generation of MacScan is designed to shield computers running Mac OS X in both regular and classic environments from spyware. SecureMac released the original version in 2002 for Mac OS 9; it was the first software of its kind available for the Macintosh.

President and CEO Nicholas Raba commented, "We are excited to bring this next-generation security product to the Macintosh community. It feels great to be able to provide such a great userbase with state of the art protection against spyware, enhancing their privacy and security!"

Christopher Beaumont, CTO added, "Apple Macintosh users have enjoyed less exposure to security threats than their Microsoft Windows-based counterparts, however viruses, spyware and security flaws still exist. MacScan plays a vital role in protecting users from today's existing threats and provides a platform to fight against those which will those continuing threats."

Mr. Raba will be showing MacScan 2.0 at Booth 950 in the Exhibit Hall from January 9 to 13, at the Moscone Center, San Fransisco. Clients of SecureMac may email email protected from spam bots to obtain a complimentary exhibit hall pass to Macworld SF.

About MacScan

MacScan is a Mac OS X software product that detects, isolates and removes spyware and remote administration utilities. Using both real-time spyware definition updating and unique detection methods, MacScan quickly identifies a wide variety of spyware that can compromise the privacy and security of the Macintosh user. Three unique scans allow the user to scan their home folder, all system files, or specific folders, drives or devices. When spyware is detected, MacScan lets the user choose to isolate the spyware files in a single location, where they can be analyzed or removed from the system. In addition to scanning for spyware, MacScan also has the ability to purge Internet-related files created by web-browsers. These files may contain passwords, personal information, browsing history, and web site tracking codes.
