Metavize(TM) Announces Addition of a Phishing Prevention Solution to the EdgeGuard Gateway Security Platform

This anti-phishing solution, the latest addition to Metavize's AntiFraud Suite of applications, is now directly available as a free download to all current EdgeGuard subscribers. Phishing attacks involve fraudulent e-mail messages that appear to come from a legitimate enterprise, typically directing users to a fake Web site to obtain personal account information, including credit card and bank account numbers. "The number of phishing attack recipients grew 28% in 2005," according to a recent report by Avivah Litan, Research Vice President at Gartner. "The combined effect of these attacks is exacting a steep toll on consumer confidence in online commerce.
