McAfee, Inc. Unveils Powerful New Network Intrusion Prevention Technology, Delivering Prioritized Attack Blocking, Next-Generation DoS and Unmatched E

McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE), the global leader in Intrusion Prevention and Security Risk Management, today announced a host of new Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) features with the introduction of McAfee(R) IntruShield(R) 3.1, the industry's most comprehensive and proven Intrusion Prevention solution. The company also announced the new IntruShield Security Manager Appliance, a powerful pre- configured, plug-and-play appliance that manages IntruShield IPS deployments.

IntruShield 3.1 boasts a number of new features, including comprehensive, built-in Web-client protection, next generation DoS prevention and the industry's first Risk-Aware IPS solution that integrates with market-leading McAfee Foundstone(R) to enable targeted, prioritized blocking of the most relevant alerts and attacks. IntruShield 3.1 technology extends IntruShield's security capabilities to provide broad, next-generation prevention of zero- day, DoS/DDoS, encrypted and SYN Flood attacks, plus threats like spyware, malware, VoIP vulnerabilities, phishing, botnets, network worms, Trojans and peer-to-peer applications.

The McAfee IntruShield Security Manager (ISM) Appliance is a fully hardened, easy-to-use Enterprise-class appliance that provides comprehensive, scalable and always-on policy-based management of IntruShield IPS sensor deployments. The ISM Appliance comes pre-configured with IntruShield 3.1 software, licenses and policy profiles, and provides out-of-the-box default IPS blocking of network threats and attacks.

It also prevents the download of unwanted programs, while protecting against unauthorized network access. * Next-Generation DoS Prevention is the industry's most advanced next- generation DoS prevention technology. It delivers comprehensive, real-time protection against sophisticated DoS attacks, cyber-attacks, and cyber extortion. All-new cryptographic SYN-cookie technology -- in combination with IntruShield's multi-layered threshold, profile-based and virtual IPS capabilities -- deliver granular protection against DoS, DDoS, and SYN flood attacks.

* Always-On Management with Automated Disaster Recovery delivers uninterrupted, highly available management capabilities with Active/Standby management-server technology for the IntruShield Security Management (ISM) system.
