McAfee, Inc. Receives High Praise from Information Security Magazine and Redmond Magazine

16 May 2006

McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE), the global leader in Intrusion Prevention and Security Risk Management, today announced that McAfee(R) AntiSpyware Enterprise, an integral component of McAfee's recently announced Total Protection Solutions, was named the top product in a seven-product comparison performed by Information Security Magazine, and a winner in the Anti-Spyware Category for Redmond Magazine's 2006 Reader's Choice Awards. The awards were announced in the May issue of each publication, and can be viewed at http://www.redmondmag.com and http://informationsecurity.techtarget.com, respectively.

According to contributing editors Ed Skoudis and Tom Liston at Information Security Magazine, McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise "was a clear leader across the board, with solid enterprise management, strong detection capabilities and resistance to attack." McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise uses McAfee's award- winning anti-spyware technology to secure businesses from potentially unwanted programs such as spyware, adware and keyloggers. In the review, McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise received an "A" in five of the eight test categories, an "A-" in one and an overall grade of "A-". The categories included Enterprise Management/Policy Definition and Grouping, Controlling Interaction with Users, Reporting, Alternate Data Streams (ADS) Detection, Signature Based Detection and Real Time Detection. No competing product received an overall grade of higher than C+ in the test.

Redmond Magazine's Reader's Choice Awards are comprised of 40 categories with winners selected based on reader votes and editor deliberations. McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise, with close to 18% of the votes, was selected as the best in its category.

"Our readers deal with spyware, hackers, integration issues, patch management and regulatory compliance issues every day, so we looked to them to identify the products that help keep their systems and networks running smoothly," said Lafe Low, executive editor for Redmond Magazine. "McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise was the clear choice for our readers, and an important day-to-day tool that helps them keep spyware at bay."

"We are pleased that McAfee products received such high praise from Information Security and Redmond Magazine," said Christopher Bolin, executive vice president and chief technology officer, McAfee, Inc. "These awards verify that customers do not compromise on best-in-class technology when purchasing McAfee's comprehensive approach to system security, McAfee Total Protection. They also further validate McAfee's continued investment in proactive technologies that help to safely eliminate unwanted programs like spyware before they actually install and fully compromise systems."

McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise is an integral component of the recently announced McAfee Total Protection for Enterprise and McAfee Total Protection for Small Business products. These solutions provide comprehensive system protection, without compromise, and are managed from a single, centralized console. Besides anti-spyware, they deliver anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall protection, and for Enterprise versions, host intrusion prevention and network access control. As part of McAfee's layered approach to security, customers can also purchase spyware protection with McAfee's leading gateway appliances.
