Lucent Technologies and Beyond Security Launch Automated Vulnerability Detection Service for Japan Market

21 June 2006

COMMUNICASIA, SINGAPORE EXPO -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) and Beyond Security Ltd. today announced the Asia Pacific (APaC) commercial launch of their Automated Vulnerability Detection Service (AVDS) for Japan. The AVDS service, based on Beyond Security's Automated Scanning Server solution, designed in conjunction with Lucent, detects network vulnerabilities remotely and automatically, using real-time networking scanning technology.

Under the provisions of a teaming agreement announced in June 2005, Lucent's Worldwide Services will market the new security solution with additional support from Beyond Security. The companies plan to launch the service in other regions in the future.

The unique AVDS service can protect customers' networks by proactively testing the network daily against the latest vulnerability information. Because tests can be done remotely, on-site OPEX costs are virtually eliminated. AVDS customers also receive an easy-to-read graphical user interface, available in English and Japanese, that clearly displays the network security status. In addition, the service is designed to accommodate the requirements of managed security service providers.

"Security is a top priority for organizations around the world today," said Aviram Jenik, CEO, Beyond Security. "This solution with Lucent will help organizations test the performance of their security systems and ensure their network is not vulnerable to outside attack."

"The new service with Beyond Security will enable us to help customers stop security breaches before they start," said Bruno Barkauskas, managing director, Lucent Worldwide Services, Lucent Technologies Japan. "Being proactive about security is the best way to ensure the safety of an organization's assets and sensitive data."

Through its lifecycle approach to security, Lucent delivers a full- spectrum of offerings including: Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Network Security Assessments, Managed Security Solutions and personalized Security Consulting Services. With its four Global Network Operations Centers (GNOC) equipped with Security Operations Centers (SOC), Lucent provides industry leading, real-time security monitoring, management, and support of a customer's network on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis.
