Independent Research Firm Acknowledges Trend Micro as a Leader in Enterprise Anti-Spyware

CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 9 -- Trend Micro, Incorporated (TSE: 4704, Nasdaq: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and content security software and services, has been acknowledged in a new report by independent industry analyst firm Forrester Research as a market leader in enterprise anti-spyware solutions, validating the company's momentum and capabilities in one of the security industry's fastest-growing markets.

The "Forrester First Wave(TM): Enterprise Antispyware, Q1 2006" report, released January 6, 2006, is based on customer feedback, product demonstrations, and vendor surveys. It evaluates eight anti-spyware vendors against more than 100 criteria, including current offerings, market presence, investment in anti-spyware solution development, and long-term product and corporate strategy.

The report names Trend Micro as a leader among the field. Trend Micro receives the highest score in product and corporate strategy. It states that "Trend Micro is delivering what enterprise customers want -- an option for either a standalone or an integrated antispyware solution." The report goes on to say that going forward, "Trend Micro will benefit from their multiple form-factor antispyware products, including standalone, suite, and gateway solutions."

The Forrester report added that Trend Micro's form-factor flexibility, combined with Trend Micro Control Manager(TM) -- the company's centralized management solution -- is a significant differentiation point in the marketplace and is a fundamental reason why the analyst firm issued a high rating of the company's strategic direction. It states: "As a dedicated security vendor, Trend Micro is able to dedicate significant resources to its antispyware product. The company's offerings are designed for the enterprise, scaling to a virtually limitless number of nodes."
