FutureSoft and Tangent Partner to Provide Anti-Spyware Appliance

6 March 2005

FutureSoft®, Inc., provider of the most comprehensive content security products on the market, and Tangent, leading provider of networking and computer services to education, today announced the launch of the PacketHawk content security appliance.

This unique and powerful security tool delivers the capability to find and remove spyware, adware, games, instant messaging clients, peer-to-peer file sharing tools and a host of other security threats, all from a simple plug-and-play appliance.

PacketHawk is built using FutureSoft's industry-leading file surveillance software, DynaComm i:scan®, preinstalled and configured on an appliance to ensure easy deployment in demanding education and government networks.

Rick Mansel, President and CEO of FutureSoft, said, "The growth of spyware and other malware infections is a constant threat, not just in the corporate environment but also for educational and public sector networks. This partnership with Tangent enables the power of our enterprise security technology to be delivered preconfigured and ready to go on an appliance. Educational users need a solution that's cost-effective, flexible and simple to get up and running. That's exactly what PacketHawk delivers. We're very excited by this opportunity to make the power of DynaComm i:scan available through our partnership with Tangent, who already has such a strong reputation in the education and government security market."

PacketHawk can be easily installed in any Windows network and provides the capability to sweep and disinfect systems, managed entirely from a central console. Spyware, adware, hacking tools, Trojans, P2P clients, and instant messaging clients are among the many threats that can be identified and cleaned automatically by the PacketHawk appliance. Updates to the database of categorized threats are also provided as part of an automated process, so that once installed and running, PacketHawk can continue to provide up-to-date security protection without the need for administrator oversight.

Mike Zabaneh, Tangent's chief operating officer, said, "Our customers rely on us to provide the most cost-effective security solutions possible. Building an appliance using FutureSoft's DynaComm i:scan technology has enabled us to offer them the most complete anti-spyware security in the most easily deployed format, at the best price. When dealing with spyware and adware, the savings in administrator time alone will quickly repay the investment many times over."

PacketHawk is available directly from Tangent, through their Web site at www.packethawk.com or at www.tangent.com. Prices start at $1,495.
