Former Visa Executive Joins TruComply, Payments Security Leader

20 July 2006

Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 18, 2006 -- TruComply, a payments security leader, announced that John Shaughnessy has joined TruComply as an Executive Analyst. John created and managed the Visa CISP program and PCI standards as Visa's Senior Vice President, Risk Management and Fraud Control, until retiring in the fall of 2005. John has 36 years of experience in the payments industry. He represented the United States as a delegate to the G8 Meeting on Cyber-Crime in Tokyo in 2001. He is a former trustee on the Board of the Coalition for the Prevention of Economic Crime (a subsidiary of the National White Collar Crime Center). He is a former vice-chairman and board member of the Internet Security Alliance whose members are dedicated to improving the security of information systems on a cross-industry basis. He is a frequent speaker and panelist at numerous payment industry, merchant and regulatory forums on fraud and security issues.

«I'm very excited to have John on our team. As the founder and manager of Visa's CISP program, he will bring unique insight to our clients,» said Chris Noell, CEO of TruComply.

«I am passionate about the data security challenges facing the payments industry, said John Shaughnessy. «In the 1990's, we foresaw a changing environment with the rapid growth and wide-scale availability of technology, and global acceptance of the Internet as a communications and payment channel. Technology and communications were outpacing the level of security needed to protect consumer information and privacy. Thus, CISP and PCI were created and introduced to address these emerging trends.»

John Shaughnessy elaborated, «One only has to read the newspaper to understand that the concerns and issues envisioned in the 1990's are, in fact, occurring. PCI is the framework the payment industry needs to create a more secure environment for consumer information, privacy, and to help protect the brand and goodwill of those entities entrusted with holding such data. This is an extremely important mission for all participants in the payment industry whether banks, merchants, gateways or processors. I look forward to assisting TruComply's clients build and manage their PCI compliance programs.»
