Former Director of U.S. Transportation Command and Central Command Joins CyberShield Networks’ Advisory Board12 September 2005
Brigadier General Steve Kelley, former Director of United States Transportation Command and Central Command COM, has been named to the Advisory Board for CyberShield Networks, the world leader in Intrusion Prevention and Deception Management with Next Generation Proactive Security Technologies.
Brigadier General Kelley retired after serving 31 years with the U.S. Air Force. He served as the Director (J-6) of Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems (C4S) and as the Chief Information Officer, first at the United States Central Command (MacDill AFB, FL) and subsequently at the U.S. Transportation Command (Scott AFB, IL) from 1992 through 1998.
As Director, he was responsible for all operations of C4 systems supporting these global warfighting commands, defining and justifying future requirements, programming and execution of all C4S funding, and interfacing with the Joint Staff, the DOD staff, and other DOD agencies. He was the Chief of Staff for Air Force Communications Command (AFCC) directing a 1200 person headquarters staff managing 48,000 people at 200 locations worldwide, a $1billion annual operating budget and a multi million dollar software development budget.
He was then Commander of the Airlift Communications Division, responsible for all operations, funding, and personnel support for 8,500 Air Force people at 17 Air Force bases. Dual hatted as the Air Mobility Command (AMC), Deputy Chief of Staff for Command Control, Communications, Computer, Information and Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems, he managed 200 staff personnel, 350 software development personnel, multiple contractor software/hardware development programs, as well as C4 systems requirements and budgeting for AMC.
He has commanded two Air Force communications units supporting two large Air Force Fighter Wings. His other assignments included responsibilities for presidential travel communications to Air Force One, direct daily communications support of the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman, JCS and their immediate staffs as well as wartime secure communications between the president and the nuclear forces.
General Kelley received his BA from the University of Notre Dame, and his MS from Southern Mississippi University. He completed the Senior Officials in National Security Course, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and the National Air War College.
"The addition of General Kelley to the CyberShield Advisory Board is an important, strategic move to expand the ever-increasing demand for CyberShield Networks IPDM technologies in the government sector," said Charles Strasburger, President and CEO of CyberShield Networks. "General Kelley is recognized as one of the top commanders in the Air Force, and I believe that this strategic move considerably enhances CyberShields' ability to grow our government market share."
