Fidelis Security Systems Announces Version 3.9 of DataSafe (TM) Extrusion Prevention System(R)

21 April 2006

Fidelis Security Systems, the authority on extrusion prevention, today announced that DataSafe version 3.9 is in production on customer networks. Designed to fit seamlessly into existing IT infrastructure with minimal impact, DataSafe 3.9 includes new pre- built policies and an improved interface to enable faster time to value and the lowest total cost of ownership among information leakage prevention solutions. DataSafe is the first Extrusion Prevention System and the only network security solution that prevents the unauthorized network transfer of critical or sensitive information across all channels on gigabit-speed networks. DataSafe protects digital assets from unauthorized disclosure across all network channels including email, http, webmail, ftp, instant messaging and peer-to-peer communications.

DataSafe 3.9, like previous versions, is built on the company's enterprise-ready architecture which is port and protocol independent and proxy-less. DataSafe can be deployed inline or out-of-band-both with full prevention capabilities. DataSafe is the only solution able to implement prevention without requiring an inline network device. In addition, DataSafe does not require change to desktops, servers or network devices, speeding implementation while maintaining network performance. As a result, customers can begin reducing their risk of information leakage immediately, and without installation and configuration challenges common in competitive solutions.

"As organizations choose to deploy network content control solutions to stem the unauthorized flow of confidential information, they have a number of architectural choices," said Trent Henry, Senior Analyst, The Burton Group. "For some enterprises, it's preferable to avoid any potential network disruption by deploying a content filtering tool out-of-band. They don't necessarily want to give up remediation capabilities, though: so a flexible solution is a key consideration."

The latest release of DataSafe accelerates the time to value with additional pre-built policies including state regulations protecting personally identifiable information, the PCI security standard, DoD Data Classification, HIPAA and computer source code. These policies use information profiles to detect and prevent critical or sensitive information, so they can be quickly deployed without the cumbersome and time-consuming registration process and maintenance process required in exact matching-based solutions. In addition, policy-engine enhancements enable users to streamline policy customization, including creating reusable components for rules, content, channels and organizations. Expanded alert-searching, viewing and reporting functions have also been improved in version 3.9 to further simplify the management of detailed information collected by DataSafe.

"The incidents of data leakage continue to grow and the market, brand, legal, operational, and financial consequences can be significant," said Timothy Sullivan, CEO of Fidelis Security Systems. "Organizations need an extrusion prevention solution that can be implemented quickly and cost effectively to stop data leakage before it occurs. With each new version of DataSafe we continue to demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with solutions that offer the fastest time to value and the lowest total cost of ownership."
