Email Host Greatmail Invites Guests to Preview New Webmail Application

Email hosting provider Greatmail LLC announced today that guests are invited to preview its new webmail application. Scheduled for release in early 2006, Greatmail Version 3 is highlighted by several design changes that enhance functionality of the webmail program on both desktop and mobile web browsers.

In response to a growing number of handheld users, Greatmail Version 3 is programmed in XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language), a language used to build web pages that display clearly on PDAs and mobile devices. The XHTML standard will improve deployment of future webmail updates.

Greatmail Version 3 achieves reliable spam filtering through SpamAssassin's Bayesian auto-learning capability. Additionally, a new "learn spam" feature allows users to manually train the spam filter to learn from incorrectly classified messages. Users may also set preferences to adjust the filter's sensitivity and the delivery action to be taken when a message is identified as spam.

Address book improvements now allow users to automatically add recipients to the address book when composing a new message. The address book also supports auto-completion of the To, Cc and Bcc fields. A new, rewritten spellchecker allows for inline word replacement. A new download module allows users the option to download message attachments in a zip file.

Individuals seeking web based and POP3 compatible email accounts may choose from one of three plans depending on storage requirements. Entry level Plan 1 includes 1 gigabyte of storage and costs $49.95 per year. Intermediate level Plan 2 includes 3 gigabytes of storage and costs $99.95 per year. Advanced level Plan 3 features 6 gigabytes of storage and costs $159.95 per year.

Greatmail's basic POP3 email service operates on the same redundant network and server model that powers the Greatmail email hosting platform. Users may select a Greatmail username and email address, ie e-mail protected from spam bots. Features include email forwarding, auto response, POP3 compatibility, remote mail retrieval, support for multiple profiles, spam filtering, html message composition, nested folders and address book. Individuals who want to host email at their own domain may upgrade to Greatmail's hosting platform.
