Citadel Security Software Adds Providence Health System to Growing Customer Base

30 January 2005

Citadel Security Software Inc. (Nasdaq:CDSS), a leader in enterprise vulnerability management and policy enforcement solutions, announced today that it has added Providence Health System to its growing number of healthcare customers. Providence Health System, a not-for-profit healthcare services organization, has selected Citadel's Hercules automated vulnerability remediation technology as part of an effort to deliver proactive network security protection to workstations and servers across their computer networks.

Due to the sensitive nature of patient information and mandates like HIPAA, healthcare organizations must proactively protect against the enormous number of security vulnerabilities that plague IT networks. Manually resolving the vulnerabilities found on each device is a time-consuming and resource-intensive task, making it an ineffective approach to fully protect personal medical records and private data. Automated vulnerability remediation technology helps organizations mitigate the risk of security vulnerabilities by providing IT staff with the means to remediate vulnerabilities quickly and effectively while meeting IT security requirements.

"We are excited to have Providence Health System as the newest addition to our growing healthcare vertical customer base," said Ed Krupa, executive vice president sales, Citadel Security Software. "We are confident that implementing Hercules, a proactive vulnerability management solution, will help them reduce IT security risk and comply with government mandates."

Citadel's Hercules is the first enterprise-class vulnerability remediation solution to automate the resolution of all classes of vulnerabilities. With the largest library of tested vulnerability remedies across Windows and UNIX platforms and interoperability with industry leading network scanners and vulnerability assessment tools, Hercules has been successfully deployed across large commercial and government enterprises.

About Providence Health System

Providence Health System serves communities across a four-state area -- Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California, with a comprehensive array of services. These include acute and primary care, outpatient services, transitional care, home and hospice care, long term care, assisted living, and housing. Providence Health System operates 17 acute care hospitals, 12 freestanding long term care facilities, and 19 low income and assisted living facilities. The system also works closely with its network of physician organizations and sponsors health plans covering more than 772,000 members and other eligible lives in Oregon and southwest Washington. Nearly 33,000 employees serve within their respective geographic locations. The system office is located in Seattle, Washington. For more information, visit www.providence.org.
