BIO-key-R- International to Showcase Fingerprint Identification at Oracle-R- OpenWorld8 December 2004
BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), the leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions announced today that as a Certified Partner in the Oracle(R) PartnerNetwork the company is showcasing its fingerprint biometrics products at the Oracle(R) OpenWorld 2004 conference in San Francisco from Dec 5th through 9th. BIO-key will provide hands-on product demonstrations of its state-of-the-art identification technology in the Protected Enterprise Security Pavilion, Booth 137. BIO-key will feature the integration of its WEB-key product (a cost effective, secure architecture for fingerprint authentication across open networks) with the Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle Database 10g. This unique solution allows users to positively identify themselves using their fingerprint, into any application data offered by the 10g application server. It also provides a simple way for users to add True User Identification(TM) to any critical transaction. This capability provides companies with the tools to comply with government regulations and legislation such as HIPAA, Sarbanes Oxley, and the Electronic Signatures Act. In the Protected Enterprise Security Pavilion, BIO-key's technology will be used to register a person's fingerprint to an Oracle database and will positively identify that person at multiple booth locations, illustrating that no matter when or where a person registers, that person can be identified at another location without providing additional information such as their name or badge ID. In addition to the integration of the WEB-key product with the Oracle Application Server 10g, BIO-key has developed an advanced fingerprint-indexing tool which uses the fingerprint as the primary identifier of a unique record in the database. This is a significant departure from other solutions requiring cards, ids or tokens to initiate the biometric authentication. This is more secure than using personal data such as a name or social security number as an individual's primary identifier because they are easy targets for identity theft and can be subject to error and/or fraud. Oracle has successfully evaluated the new product for biometric identification in their Performance Testing Labs in Redwood Shores, CA as well as providing substantial guidance for the implementation of the real-time identification system. "BIO-key and Oracle have a long standing relationship in developing the worlds most accurate and scalable fingerprint indexing technologies," said Mike DePasquale, CEO of BIO-key International. "We look forward to building on this partnership as we continue to introduce innovative, cost effective solutions using Oracle's proven server platforms and BIO-key's premier biometric technology."
