AEP Networks Unveils Latest Netilla Security Platform SSL VPN, Featuring Client Machine Identity and Seamless Citrix and Windows Terminal Services Sup

13 December 2005

AEP Networks today unveiled key
enhancements to its flagship AEP Netilla Security Platform SSL VPN. The
new features include device identification -- the ability to authenticate
remote PCs with a "digital fingerprint" identifier before allowing them to
connect to an enterprise network -- seamless support for both Citrix® or
Windows® Terminal Services-based environments, and enhanced file
services. AEP made its announcement here at Interop New York (Dec. 12-15)
where it is exhibiting in booth#124.

"As more businesses and government agencies roll out secure application
access, one clear trend we're seeing is a two-pronged demand for greater,
more seamless access to all enterprise applications, along with the ability
to fine-tune exactly who can access private network resources," said Reggie
Best, executive vice president and general manager of AEP's Secure
Application Access Business. "Our latest enhancements to our award-winning
Netilla Security Platform address both of those areas -- and extend our
reputation as the SSL VPN with the broadest range of application support
right out of the box."

Client Machine ID (CMID) marks the most important security enhancement to
the release. Based on proprietary AEP technology, CMID makes it possible
to identify a user's specific PC before he or she is granted access to
network resources. CMID creates a unique device profile based on the PC's
CPU, memory and other parameters; it enhances security by providing device
authentication in addition to user authentication.

NSP's broader application support is made possible by two new refinements.
The first, Citrix Client Push and Windows Terminal Services Push,
automatically delivers a native full Citrix ICA client for Citrix
environments or a Windows RDP client for Windows to the remote user's PC,
enabling seamless direct access to either Citrix MetaFrame or Windows
Terminal Services applications. For Citrix, this provides access to
MetaFrame without going through Citrix Web Interface. For Windows, this
eliminates the need for end users to download and configure their own RDP
client.

The second application refinement, based on enhancements to AEP's
Intelligent Port Forwarding, translates into support for a broader range of
applications -- including Oracle and applications with dynamic port ranges.
Both of these features will be added to AEP's Web reverse proxy/Intelligent
Port Forwarding access licenses at no extra cost.

Enhanced file services offer a revamped user interface that will let users
access their Windows files right from the browser window, making the remote
user experience more closely resemble working from an office PC. The new
files services also fully support international character sets for global
use.

Further, AEP's SSL tunnel for network-level VPN access has been enhanced so
that it supports Mozilla Firefox and browsers for greater interoperability.

Release 5.2.2 will be generally available in the first quarter of 2006.
