AdStar Enters Into International Distribution Agreement With AdSecure18 October 2005
AdStar, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADST), the leading provider of e-commerce transaction software and services for the advertising and publishing industries, today announced that it has entered into an international distribution agreement with UK-based AdSecure. As a result, AdSecure will facilitate AdStar's international expansion efforts by marketing and selling AdStar's XML-based E-commerce Platform Services through industry resellers worldwide. AdStar's technology provides a direct interface with newspapers' front-end legacy and online advertising systems, thus allowing advertisers to create, schedule and pay for single or multiple ads for distribution in both the print and online versions of newspapers.
"Having delivered advertising systems to newspapers outside the United States for a number of years, I believe it is rare to find a product in the e-commerce space that is so rich and mature; particularly one such as AdStar's that can deliver such value to its customers," said Phil Lowe, chief executive officer of AdSecure. "Not only does AdStar provide advertisers round-the-clock access to newspapers' classified advertising systems, but publishers can also offer a variety of pricing packages and value-added services and features, such as auctions and 'click-to-buy' capabilities. AdStar's technology allows newspapers to 'reverse publish' their web ads back into print, which greatly improves their ability to compete with web-only venues. AdStar offers a vital tool allowing members of the global publishing community to promote their brand on the web, combine all web transactions in one repository, and manage financial transactions in a most efficient manner."
AdStar's E-Commerce Platform is currently used by dozens of media organizations in the United States to power classified ad transactions via the Web. The service also enables third-party applications and ad sources to integrate with newspapers' front-end systems through a reliable, secure gateway. AdStar's platform allows for the enforcement of newspapers' publishing rules so that delivered ads conform to the specific requirements of each publication and need not be manually entered or edited.
Leslie Bernhard, president and CEO of AdStar, stated, "Our E-commerce Platform is helping newspapers across the United States enhance ad volume and revenue, and we are confident that we can repeat our success on the international playing field. As illustrated by our recent agreement with Associados in Brazil, AdStar's Platform Services are relevant to the entire global publishing community, and we look forward to working with Phil and AdSecure to achieve our vision."
"AdSecure will work with established resellers to ensure that local support for AdStar's technology is always available," added Lowe. "Finalizing the agreement with AdStar allows us to establish the international infrastructure necessary to move forward, and although some markets are spoken for, we will actively pursue partners in a number of important regions."
