Acsys Biometrics Chooses Wizzard Software to Add Voice to Facial Recognition20 January 2005
Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today that the Ontario-based Acsys Biometrics has licensed AT&T's Natural Voices speech engine for use in their facial recognition products. Acsys Biometrics is a leading provider of neural technology, which consists of technology that emulates the analytical processes of the human mind. Ideal for industries that require high level security systems, their Face Recognition System (FRS) is capable of fulfilling all biometric security needs relating to identity authentication, controlled access and surveillance. Acsys Biometrics' customer base includes the U.S. government and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
"We performed a quality test among several vendors and found that AT&T's product provided the most natural sounding voice and most accurate pronunciation," said John Sutherland of Acsys Biometrics. Sutherland believes adding speech technology to their products "provides a higher dimension of user interactivity and realizes a new level of office automation and alarm features."
Biometrics is the science of using biological properties to identify individuals, such as finger prints or a retina scan. Acsys Biometrics' advanced technology recognizes facial features at different angles, and will learn that and compare it to other people's features to verify an individual's identity. AT&T's Natural Voices is used in their voice synthesis product to provide voice feedback during facial enrollment, and to verify and classify operations. For example, random customized greetings can be added when an individual enters the camera's field of few, such as "Hello John, did you register with the receptionist" or "Sally, you have e-mail."
"The addition of AT&T Natural Voices to add voice personality to Acsys Biometrics' facial recognition technology is brilliant," said Bruce Phifer, Wizzard General Manager of Market/Business Development. "We are pleased that Acsys Biometrics chose Wizzard and AT&T Natural Voices to provide their voice component and are very excited about this combination of technologies, which clearly exemplifies the value of using human interface technology to connect an emerging high tech product directly with its users."
